Rocket Ships

This project really took off! ;) We did some space exploration by looking at a book about space, planets, stars etc. And set out to create our own space scene complete with Rocket Ship!

To start the kids cut out a pre drawn rocket ship and then colored and decorated it with markers after getting ideas from the book. I showed them how to draw windows with an astronaut peaking out if they wanted. Then I encouraged them to create patterns and designs after talking about what those are. And of course they used their own imaginations on how design them!

 

After drawing the rocketship we made the background.  We looked again at the space book and used some oil pastels to draw stars, galaxies,  planets etc. Then painted with blue purple and white.  After that we glued on the rocake ship and tissue paper fire! Blast off!!!

After finishing I gave them black paper and chalk to draw some  more space skies.
